Interim Management : Evaluate : Recommend : Implement
Welcome, I’m Paul Barber and I’m an Interim Manager trading as Wyndham Software.
It is likely that you are visiting us because you have a skills shortage within your business. Often this is a temporary issue driven by circumstance. As a result of this you might consider support from external sources. In instances like this you can choose between either a Management Consultant or an Interim Manager.
There are some subtle differences between your two options. As a professional manager, I specialise in Interim Management. This is because I like implementing as well as evaluating and recommending.
I love getting involved with your workforce. This is because I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of becoming an integral part of your team. As a result, I fill your skills gap and I mentor as well as assist your current team. This is to make sure that they benefit too.
When I finish my work with your business you the aim is to ensure that you benefit over a long period of time.

My key disciplines are Sales, Marketing and Data Management. I have been successful in these across multiple industries for over 25 years. As a result of this experience I am suited for positions such as Interim Sales Manager, Interim Marketing Manager, Interim Data Manager and Interim Managing Director.

More about the differences between a Management Consultant and an Interim Manager
As an Interim Manager we are directly employed by you and you alone set us measurable goals. As a result we Evaluate, Recommend and implement directly under your control. Ordinarily, once our recommendations are implemented the project reaches its conclusion. We then leave your business and place our role back into the hands of your team.
This is subtly different to a Management Consultant, here’s why.
Experience and Ability Count
An Interim Manager or Interim Executive is hired as an independent person on the basis of his or her personal abilities and reputation. By comparison a Management Consultant works through a Management Consultancy, therefore they are hired on the basis of the agency’s merits. This means that the experience of the supplied Management Consultant is out of your control.
Interim Mangers Implement Change
A Management Consultant will advise on a situation, but often will not be the person to implement his or her own advice, whereas an Interim Manager will not only advise on a particular situation they will also implement measures to solve the problem.
Keeping your team involved
An Interim Manager works with your own team, people that you provide from within your business. These are therefore already trusted individuals who maybe simply lacking a little bit of experience in particular scenarios. Alternatively, the Management Consultant will look to the Management Consultancy they work for to provide additional resource.
Improve Company Effectiveness
An Interim Manager will always try to cut costs and improve company effectiveness to achieve organisational goals as quickly as possible. This will assist in building his or her reputation. By contrast as the Management consultant works through a Management Consultancy he or she may try to push additional services or “stretch out” the service to increase his or her own revenue or that of the agency.
All Interims are directly hired by you
As an Interim Manager is directly employed by your business, they report directly to you which keeps you well informed and ensures that there is no conflict of interest. A Management Consultant will be employed by a Consultancy so they report to them.
Interim Managers are specialists
Finally, it is often the case that a Management Consultant is great across the wide field of business, but not necessarily a specialist in particular fields which is exactly where an Interim Manager fits in. For example at Wyndham Software we are experienced in Sales, Marketing and Data Management. With over 25 years experience working in these particular fields.
